The story of Wallmont

Wallmont is a combination of a catering platform for holiday accommodation providers and an online shop for Valais that has a focus on our region. A little piece of Valais for everyone, whether they are on holiday or at home here.

We want to be different. We want to give our guests some added value. And when the global pandemic hit us in 2019, we put our heads together to come up with potential solutions for the Montela Apartments development in Saas-Grund and its guests. Nearly everything was closed, even the restaurants, which was difficult for a tourist area like the Saas Valley. This was difficult even for us as a provider of holiday accommodation because we were no longer able to offer our guests here any added value.

We came up with a number of ideas, but then we concentrated on the "food" option and drew up a strategy for meals, which would allow us to spoil the 95 or more flats in Saas-Grund with culinary treats. The complex was built without any infrastructure, so a lot of imagination and planning was needed. And so, an online catering platform was created for the guests at the Montela Apartments with options for our breakfast service, the offer of half-board and our bread roll service using our own bakery. We work in partnership with Gaumenzauber as our catering company.

One of our aims was to support the guests at the Montela Apartments during this difficult period and provide a new service appropriate to the situation. Another aim was to respond to the pandemic. Our catering platform has been built in such a way that guests have the option to book holiday apartments with breakfast and an à la carte dinner and to enjoy culinary treats in their own holiday flat.

• À la carte: Guests have a choice of more than 26 different dinner menus, including a starter and dessert.
• Menus can be pre-ordered with ease online from the catering platform.
• Each guest can decide exactly when they want to eat.
• The menus are regional, seasonal, and varied. We offer a range of options including specialities from the Valais region and vegan or vegetarian menus.
• Breakfast items can be reordered with ease using an allowance.
• Everything (dinner, breakfast, bread rolls) is delivered fresh to the guest's accommodation every day.

As we were writing our initial texts, we quickly realised that we could expand the catering platform and also offer our range to other people. This is how the in-house online shop that was initially created for guests at the Montela Apartments became an online shop for the whole of Switzerland with specialities from the canton of Valais. Wallmont the Online shop for the Valais region was created.
